Positive thoughts are Your Best Friend

If you have ever had a down turn in your life and indulged in the kind of thinking that turns your world into a rather forlorn place, you need to think about what you think about. Consider the role that your thinking plays in life and what you experience on a daily basis. The way you perceive things will determine what your life is going to be like.

If you have positive thoughts your attitudes are going to be positive too. It can not be any other way. Do this experiment - Consider for a moment the relationship you have with your best friend, spouse, significant other. Think about the love you share and the support you both give and receive. Focus on the energy that relationship gives you.

Did you find yourself smiling without thinking about smiling? Did you think of a specific memory? Did you notice that for the moment that you were thinking of your loved one your world seemed a little brighter a bit warmer?

A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results.

- Wade Boggs

The most likely response to thinking about such a wonderful thing, is a wonderful feeling which in turn produces a wonderful attitude. The exercise above was to help you experience at a personal level the difference that a positive thought can make in the way you feel. It is one thing to read about and understand a concept it is another one entirely to experience it.

Our thoughts become attitudes which show up in our behaviour. Our behaviour speaks loud and clear to the people around us. You already know that negative people do not usually attract a lot of happy, healthy, and optimistic friends. They either attract other sour-puss people or simply repel everyone around them. They probably are not even aware that they are the cause of their own experience. The opposite is also true. Happy, positive people are usually surrounded by happy, positive people.

Encourage yourself and others around you to be positive and your life will become positive. That's not to say that you won't experience bad things in life but your attitude and perception towards them will change and they will be come stepping stones to personal growth and greatness rather than the mill stones that grind you into powder.

Here's how to develop your positive thought habit ...

Positive Thought Development

  1. Be Aware of your thoughts
    1. This sounds like a peculiar exercise but it is quite possible to do. Be aware of the nature of your thoughts as you are thinking. Ask yourself if what you are thinking is negative or positive. Take the point of view of a detached objective observer. Don't worry about it if your thoughts are predominantly negative just be aware.
  2. Identify Negative thoughts
    1. This part of the exercise is well worth it but is going to take a bit of effort. Keep a journal. Write down your thoughts. Write the major events of the day and what you thought about them.
    2. Try and identify what triggered a particular thought was it an event? A memory? A conversation? An email? what was it? The journal is meant more as a tool to help you see what you are thinking than a record for later analysis.
    3. The journal is simply to help you develop an awareness of negative thoughts so you can ...
  3. Blast Negative thoughts
    1. The subconscious mind is a remarkable part of our psyche. One of it's characteristics is that it can't distinguish reality from fantasy. So to help getting rid of negative thoughts we need to use our imagination to blast them away.
    2. Imagine that you have a mental weapon. Perhaps some sort of laser beam thought blaster. Whatever suits you. Whenever a negative thought pops into your head take your imaginary weapon and blast it. See that thought or emotion or feeling being blown to smithereens. Try to see bright colors and feel the heat of the negative though being destroyed.
  4. Replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts
    1. Once you have blasted a negative thought you have created a mental vacuum. Vacuums want to be filled and will be filled. It's up to you to fill it with something positive. The quicker you do this the more effective it will be in helping to develop a positive thought habit.
    2. The things that people say, events that happen to us, can have a strong impact on the nature of our thoughts. The way to defend yourself against negative thoughts and events is to be on the offensive in the battle. Think your positive thoughts, talk positively to the people who dump on you, read positive quotes and inspirational material, surround yourself with positive messages on posters, cards, your computer desktop and so on. Get creative and find places to put your positive messages.
  5. Reinforce your positive thought habit
    1. Thoughts can be reinforced by using visualization and emotion. It may take a bit of time to reinforce a positive thought but the value of this can not be understated.
    2. Visualization and Emotion makes your positive thought very powerful and it makes your subconscious pay attention to it.

Positive Thoughts and Your subconscious

Most of what we think is habit. And most of what we think comes from our subconscious. Doing the exercises above is a solid way to develop a positive thought habit. The best way to develop positive thoughts is to train the subconscious mind to produce positive thoughts automatically. Wouldn't it be nice to have a positive outlook without having to be aware, and focus on positive thinking? It almost doesn't seem possible does it?

It is possible. Your subconscious mind is your servant. Make it work for you and do all the grunt work of developing your positive thought habit. Are you interested in learning how to make your mind do this for you? Keep reading ...

Positive Thoughts and Affirmations

The subconscious mind is made to do things by giving it the same command repetitively and with conviction. That's why visualization and emotion work so well. Visualization and emotion are the languages of the subconscious mind. The command that you give to your subconscious mind is called an affirmation. This statement repeated with intensity and emotion will have the effect of directing your subconscious mind to produce behaviour that you desire. If you direct your subconscious mind to produce positive thoughts - it will.

Affirmations as you just learned are positive statements or messages that you present to your mind. Here at AFRS we have created a technology to help you in your quest. We have combined affirmations with brainwave entrainment to produce a tool that will help you create your powerful positive thoughts quickly and effectively.
